FAQ

How much insulation do I need?

Packages = (area − openings) × (1 + waste % ÷ 100) ÷ square feet per package, rounded up to a whole roll, pack, or bag.

How do I measure walls for insulation?

For each wall, multiply length by height in feet, add the walls together, then subtract windows and doors. For an attic floor, multiply length by width.

How many bags of blown-in insulation do I need?

Read the coverage chart on the bag, find the square feet per bag for the R-value you want, and type that number as the coverage. The app divides your area by it.

Which R-value should I use?

That depends on your climate zone and local code, so this app does not choose one. Pick the R-value from your local code or the product guidance, then use that coverage.

What does this not include?

Price, labor, vapor barrier, baffles, fasteners, air sealing, and framing spacing details beyond the coverage printed on the label.
